Assam announces early Summer Vacation for schools till May 31


Addressing a press meet at NHM Office, Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma declared summer vacation from 1st May to 31st May 2020 across the state. Normally, summer vacation used to be given in July. Dr. Sarma also told that SEBA and the AHSEC will declare the results for class 10 and HS examinations in mid-June.


Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma also added, 
This time the students won’t receive paper mark sheet as we don’t want the student to come to school. Everyone will receive digital mark sheets. These mark sheets can be used for admission purposes, too”.

Moreover, to save the academic year of the students, the state government has planned to extend the academic year till March 31 this year. However, the government has sought advice from academics on the issue rather than taking a unilateral decision.

The Assam government had constituted a task force to examine the feasibility of online education in the state. On Wednesday, the Delhi government announced the start of summer holidays for government and aided schools from May 11 to June 30.

Meanwhile, Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi has directed the health department to effectively implement ‘contact tracing’ to contain the spread of coronavirus in the state.
