The Assam Government has fixed a new fee structure of non-government (private) educational institutes in the state for the academic year 2021-22.The notification issued by the Principal Secretary of Elementary and Secondary Education, B Kalyan Chakraborty mentioned the amount specifically of Rs 27 thousand for pre-primary and Class I to V per annum and Rs. 32 thousand for Class VI to X.
Assam Govt fixed New Fee Structure Introduced For Private Schools
The Assam Government has fixed the fee structure of the private schools for the academic year 2021-22 which was a much-awaited decision for long. The government issued a notification under the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2018 to regulate the fee structure passed by the Assam Legislative Assembly in 2018.
In the technical streams, the annual fees for students studying in classes XI and XII will be Rs 37,000 for Science, Rs 32,000 for Arts, Rs 33,000 for Commerce and Rs 35,000 for other streams.

The total fee includes admission fee, tuition fee, building or infrastructure development fees, sports and cultural fees excluding transportation fee.
Under the provisions of the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2018, the state education department is empowered to levy fines and initiate various punitive measures, including withdrawal of registration, and also affiliation, in the event of a contravention of the rates specified by the department.
The notification further states that if any non-government (private) school charges less than the amount fixed by the department, it would exempt them from the determination of the fee, but, they will have to get the exemption certificate from the Fee Regulatory Committee.
However, if any school charges more than the amount fixed, they would be required to submit proposals for approval and fixation of fees following the provisions of the Assam Non-Government Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fees) Act, 2018.
