Eligibility Criteria:
Qualifications : Master’s
Degree in a relevant disciple of Natural Resource Management, Wildlife
Sciences, Forestry with specialisation in natural resources.
Experience A minimum of 1 year of
relevant experience and publications on natural resource
economics/environmental law and policy/criminology with an emphasis on trade. A
minimum of 2 years of relevant analytical skills for meta-analysis, ecological
simulation or economic modelling including collection and collation of data. A minimum
of 2 years of field surveys expertise and designing of projects. Willing to
travel within the project state.
Job Description : The Field Officer (FO)
will be responsible for designing methodology of wildlife crime data
collection, collation of data from field offices, collation of wildlife crime
information from various sources, analyses of data that will require accurate
referencing, evaluation and production of informative outputs on wildlife trade
dynamics. This will be in collaboration with other TRAFFIC India staff and
under the overall guidance of Head TRAFFIC India. Wildlife trade dynamic
reports will be produced for submission to the state enforcement agencies,
WCCB, project partners, conservation practitioners including those responsible
for regulation of the trade, for action and follow up. The FO will work under
the regular supervision of Coordinator TRAFFIC India.
Duties & Responsibilities:
a. Undertake studies and analyses of trends on select
species in trade (flora and fauna), impact on conservation of those species and
socio-economics of trade.
b. Undertake collection of wildlife crime information, in
collaboration and from the Forest Department and other enforcement agencies,
for a database.
c. Conduct market level surveys for species in trade in
the Project sites of the SECURE Landscape.
d. Prepare monthly updates on select species in trade, and
flag surge in trade for species of concern, if any.
e. Provide necessary technical backstopping and inputs for
development and undertake Security Audits for Project Sites to identify gaps if
any.
4. Remuneration will be competitive with Indian NGO pay
scales and will depend upon candidate’s experience levels and the overall
WWF-India salary structure. WWF-India does not provide housing, telephone or
vehicle facilities.
