Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on September 23 appointed 11,202 persons in various government ministries, fulfilling his promise to give one lakhs jobs to the people of Assam.

Govt. of Assam today distributed appointment letters to 11202 youths who have been recruited in various departments of the state govt. A mega ceremonial appointment letter distribution program was organized at Khanapara in Guwahati, where chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma handed over the much sought-after appointment letters to a few of the new state govt employees. 

The Home and Political Department will receive 5,335 of the total appointments, followed by the School Education Department with 3,811 and the Higher and Technical Education Department with 927.

It is to be noted that as many as 304 new employees will be hired by the Public Works Department (PWD), while 299 positions in the Health and Family Welfare Department, 277 in the Panchayat and Rural Department, and 137 in the Irrigation Department will be filled.

There will be appointments for 11 candidates in the department of transformation and development, 33 candidates in the department of environment and forests, 24 candidates in the department of skills, employment, and entrepreneurship, and 13 candidates in the department of sports and youth welfare.

Additional departments where hiring will occur include those for handloom and textiles, cooperation, information, and public relations, as well as skill, employment, and entrepreneurship.

At a ceremonial event to be conducted at Khanapara Veterinary Field in Guwahati on September 23, the Assam government give appointment letters to 11202 candidates in 21 government ministries.

The 11202 candidates will receive their appointment letters in a formal ceremony conducted by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Taking to Twitter, the Chief Minister said these appointments will be in addition to the already appointed 27,737 candidates.

Sarma said, "We commit, and we deliver—a significant step in our effort to provide one lakh jobs in Assam. GoA will now give out employment letters to 11,202 candidates in 21 government departments on September 23, 2022, in a ceremonial occasion in Khanapara, Guwahati, following 27,737 successful recruitments".
