Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sharma made the announcement in this regard on Tuesday after a meeting with police officials. During the review meeting, eight major choices on policing in the state were made. To improve enforcement in the state, Sarma implemented a number of reforms, including 1,000 new police quarters and infrastructure improvements for the Director-General Police and Commissioner offices.

It should be noted that the recruitment notification would be conducted also for the post of commando battalions. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday announced that the job advertisement to fill 6,000 posts in the state police department, including 5 commando battalions, will be published by next week. He also said that vacancies in the Sub-Inspector (SI) posts will be filled up. The total number of vacancies for the post of commando battalions is 5. Candidates should note that the advertisement would be released for the post of Sub Inspector. Candidates are advised to keep a check on the official website of Assam Police for more updates.
Advertisement for 6,000 Vacancy to be Published By Next Week
The decision to release the advertisement was taken after a review meeting that was conducted. The review meeting was held at the Assam Police Headquater. After the review meeting, Assam Chief Minister took to Twitter and mentioned, "With an aim to strengthen our policing infrastructure, a key to safety and growth of our society, we have decided to take several reformative measures in a review meeting held at @assampolice headquarters."
Several other important decisions were taken in the review meeting such as completing document verification within 30 days. Further, it has been mentioned that a new SOP related to passport, post mortem report, accident report would be soon released. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also announced that investigations would be started within 24 hours after lodging First Information Report.
The review meeting also decided about the second SP conference. The second SP conference would be conducted at Duliajan. The conference would be held on January 8 and January 9, 2021. With the aim to upgrade the infrastructure, it has also been decided that 1,000 new quarters for Police, Infrastructure upgrade for the Commissioners' Office, and DGP would be done soon.
Eight important decisions on the police system in the state were taken in the review meeting. To strengthen the police system in the state, Sharma initiated various remedial measures including 1,000 new quarters for police, infrastructure up-gradation for the office of director-general of police and commissioner.
