ASTU Exam Notification 2020

Assam Science and Technology University (ASTU) has released three (3) notifications regarding the conduct of examinations and evaluation of answer sheets for different engineering colleges in Assam

a) Terminal Semester Assessment,

b) Intermediate Semester Assessment and

c) Special Even Semester Repeaters Examinations, 2020

Due to the current COVID-19 Pandemic Situation.

Here are a few salient points:

Intermediate Semester Assessment

Promotion to next semester/year:

All students of intermediate semesters/years of academic session 2019-20 will be promoted to next semester/year in the academic year 2020 -21 so that they do not suffer from the loss  of an academic year.  However, such students, who have backlog subjects and would have appeared in the current semester examinations to clear the backlogs, will have to appear in the respective end semester examinations whenever held next.

End Semester Theory and Practical Examinations:

The assessment for end semester examination will be based on (i) 50% marks on the basis of Continuous Evaluation (CE)/ Mid -Semester Evaluation(MS) or both as applicable and (ii) the remaining 50% marks will be awarded on the basis of performance in previous semester results. In the case of the annual pattern of examinations, 100% evaluation for 1st year, will be done on the basis of Continuous Evaluation (CE) marks.

Evaluation/Assessment  of  Project/ Studio/Seminar and  Practical(where there  is no  CE/MS component) :

The assessment shall be conducted through online mode  (viva -voce) by a  committee constituted by the head of the institution. The Project Report may be obtained through E-

mail with a PDF attachment. Recorded audio-visual of viva-voce may be kept for future reference.

Examination Form-Fill Up:

All students need to complete the examination form fill-up process. If the student wishes to improve grades, she /he may appear as and when the university conducts the examination.

Terminal Semester Assessment

End Semester Theory Examinations:

The duration of examination shall be reduced from 3 hours to 2 hours. Maximum marks for ESE will be reduced to 50 marks with more choice of questions. Students having backlogs (ASTU Regulation)in terminal semester examinations will be allowed to appear in the examinations with the same modalities to clear their backlogs, but those with backlogs in intermediate semesters will have to wait to appear in the examinations whenever these examinations are held next.

Evaluation/Assessment of Project/ Studio/ Seminar and Practical:

The assessment shall be made through online mode (viva - voce) by a committee constituted by the head of the institution. The Project Report may be obtained through E-mail with PDF attachment.

SPECIAL Even Semester Repeaters Examinations, 2020

The competent authority of Assam Science and Technology University(ASTU) is pleased to notify that a Special Even Semester Repeaters Examinations, 2020, will be conducted along with the Terminal Semester Regular Examinations, 2020.

Eligibility criteria to appear in the Special Even Semester Repeaters End-term Examinations, 2020:

Category—I: 

All students of the terminal/final semester of the current academic year will be eligible to appear in the Special Repeaters End-term examinations, 2020, for their backlog paper(s) in 2nd/4th/6th/8th semester.

Category—II: 

Students, who have already appeared in the regular examinations of all the semesters of their respective program and not crossed the maximum duration of the programme, will also be eligible to appear in their backlog paper(s) in this Special Repeaters End-term examination, 2020.

• Students of Intermediate semesters of the current academic year will NOT be eligible to appear in the Special Even Semester Repeaters examinations, 2020. However, such students will have to appear in the respective End Semester Repeaters examinations, as and when it is held by the University.

• The Special Even Semester Repeaters Theory Examinations, 2020, will be conducted in offline (pen & paper) mode. The duration of the examination shall be reduced from 3 hours to 2 hours. Maximum marks for ESE will be reduced to 50 marks with more choice of questions.

• The assessment of the backlog paper of Project/ Studio/Seminar and Practical shall be made through online mode (viva-voce) by a committee constituted by the head of the institution. The Project Report may be obtained through E-mail with PDF attachment.

• The provision for Special Even Semester Repeaters Examinations, 2020 shall be applicable only for the current academic session 2019-20 as a one-time measure.
