The central government of India made the use of the Aarogya Setu app compulsory for all its employees saying the use of the mobile application will help in breaking the chain of transmission of deadly Covid-19. Central government workers will have to review their status on the App before they start for office and continue only when the app shows "safe" or "low risk" status.

According to the office memorandum issued on 29-04-2020, the department of personnel and training (DoPT) makes it clear that in case the Aarogya Setu App shows a message that he/she has a moderate or high risk calculated on the basis of recent contact with the infected person (Bluetooth proximity) he/she should not come to the office and "self isolate for 14 days or till the status becomes a safe or low risk.

"Before starting for office, they must review their status on 'Aarogya Setu' and commute only when the app shows 'safe' or 'low risk' status," it said.

In a communique issued to all departments, it said all the officers, staff (including outsourced staff) working in the central government should download 'Aarogya Setu' application on their mobile phones, immediately.

The Aarogya Setu application developed by the government helps people to assess themselves on the risk of their catching the coronavirus infection.

All central government departments have been asked to call only one-third of the staff below the deputy secretary level on a rotation basis to the offices.
