The notification reads as follows: 

Reference recruitment of 2391 posts of Constables (UB) & 4271 posts of Constable (AB) in Assam Police & Notice issued vide No. SLPRB/REC/CONST/(AB & UB)/2018/Vol-II/49 dated 06-03-2020.
In view of the Government's declaration of 21 days Nationwide Lock down, the downloading of admit card has been suspended until further order. The new dates will be uploaded in our website later on.

Earlier, Assam Police released the admit card w.e.f. 10-03-2020 for the recruitment to 6662 Constable (UB) &  Constable (AB) posts in Assam Police.

Selection Process for Assam Police Constable Recruitment 2020


The Candidates whose applications are found correct in all respect will have to undergo the 

  • Physical Standards Tests (PST)  
  • Physical Efficiency Tests (PET)
  • Written Test


If any candidate is found to have any physical deformity as may be detected by the Medical Officer present in the DLSC, he/ she will be debarred from participating in the other tests.



  • Candidates whose applications are found correct in all respect will have to undergo the Physical Standards Tests (PST) and Physical Efficiency Tests (PET).

Scrutiny of documents:

  • All the original documents along with a set of Photostat copies of the documents will be checked before the candidate is allowed to appear in the PST and PET as per the given eligibility criteria.


  • Candidates who are rejected will be given rejection slips specifying the reason of rejection.
  •  In order to avoid manipulation of documents at later stage, the Chairman or a Member of the DLSC shall put his/her signature on each copy of such document at the time of PST/PET; particularly on caste certificate and any other documents which carry marks against Extra-Curricular Activities and Special Skills.


Physical Standards Tests (PST):

After the documents are found correct, the candidates will have to appear in the PST (Physical Standard Test).
It will carry no marks.

Measurement of the height, weight & chest (only males) of the candidates will be done using the latest technology and after which the candidate will be examined by a Medical Officer for preliminary check-ups for followings:

  • knock knee
  • vision test
  • color blindness test
  • flat foot
  • varicose vein
  • physical deformities etc.

Once a candidate clears the PST he/she will have to appear in the PET (Physical Efficiency Test).

Physical Efficiency Tests (PET):

  • The Physical Efficiency Test will carry 40 marks.


  • CCTV will be installed for recording each event of the PST and PET for each candidate. Performances may also be announced through the PA system.
  • All Candidates will be subjected to bio-metric recordings for identification.
  • A candidate gets eliminated from the recruitment process as soon as he/she fails to qualify in any event during PST or PET. A candidate may have to take the PET in a sequence as decided by the DLSC.
  • Individual statements of marks signed by the candidate and the officer conducting the race/ tests will be shown to the candidates.
  • A rejection slip will be given to a candidate when he/she is eliminated from a particular Test.
  • Marks for Extra-Curricular Activities and Special Skills will not be announced instantly as this may involve further verification of information.
  • Results of the PST and PET will be locally displayed at the end of each day of the Test.
  • After completion of the PST and PET for all the candidates, District-wise merit lists for each category (Unreserved, OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H) for both men and women) will be prepared on the basis of the total marks scored on PET.
  • Candidates will be called for the Written Test in order of merit at the rate of 5 (five) times the number of posts allotted in respect of each category. If the total number of qualifying candidates turns out to be less than 5 times the number of posts, all qualifying candidates but no other will be called for the Written Test.
  • It will have 2 (two) events viz:


Male Candidates:

a) Race: 
Those who qualify in the PST will be subjected to 3.2 km race to be completed within 14 minutes (840 seconds).

b) Long Jump: 
Minimum 335 cm for long jump (3 chances to be given and the longest valid jump rounded off to the nearest cm will be considered for awarding marks).

Female Candidates:

a) Race: 
Those who qualify in the PST will be subjected to 1600mtrs. race to be completed within 08 minutes.

b) Long Jump: 
Minimum 244 cm for long jump (3 chances to be given and the longest valid jump rounded off to the nearest cm will be considered for awarding marks).

Assam Police Constable Written Test:

The written test will consist of 100 multiple choice type questions to be answered on an OMR answer sheet. - For each correct answer, the candidate will get half a mark.

  • Questions will be of the level of class IX and X.
  • The total marks for the Written Test will be 50.
  • There will be no negative marking.
  • The Test will be MCQ type.(100 Questions)
  • Written Test will be conducted throughout the State on one day at each district HQ.

Extra-Curricular Activities and Special Skills:

  • The candidate will receive up to 10 marks under this section.
  • Marks are to be rewarded as per his/ her extra qualifications or eligibility.

Note: 
Candidates having educational qualification Higher Secondary and above may also apply for both Armed Branch & Unarmed Branch. In such case, in the online application form, the applicant will have to clearly mention his/her preference for the posts of Unarmed Branch & Armed Branch.

Age limit: Minimum 18 years & maximum of 25 years as on 1st January of 2018 1st July 2019 (i.e. the candidate must be born on or before 01.07.2001 and on or after 01.07.1994).

Age Relaxation:Upper age limit will be relaxed for:

  • 5 (five) years in respect of candidates belonging to SC, ST (P) and ST(H).
  • 3 (three) years in respect of candidates belonging to OBC/MOBC.
  • Additional relaxation of 3 (three) years in respect of trained Home Guards/members of VDPs (registered) who have served for a period of 3(three) years or more.
  • Additional relaxation of 10 (ten) years in respect of FMMOs/SPOs (Certificate to this effect from competent authority will have to be submitted).

Nationality: 
Candidates must be Indian citizens, ordinarily resident of Assam.
